So, I watched Borat for the first time last night.
...
I feel like there's nothing I can say about it that wouldn't ruin someone else's first time viewing of it, so I'll refrain from sharing a review.
Except to say it's been a long time since a movie made me laugh that loud (and while alone) while experiencing that much discomfort. I thought it was brilliant and tasteless and irresistible.
Now watch it again. It plays with your laughter in a completely different way the second time around. Still funny, but it becomes almost unbearably uncomfortable viewing when you're familiar with what's coming next.

ReplyDeleteDon't worry... everyone else in the entire world already saw it well over a year ago. :-P
Honestly, though I'm waiting for "Bruno" to come out... his Austrian gay character... those sketches were always the best on Da Ali G Show (youtube it if you havent seen these before). Talk about uncomfortable!
Me too.
